Mel Abbe / Bio

Mel Abbe built his first home in 1996 in Llano Estates. Abbe Custom Homes has since grown into a business dedicated to giving the homeowner quality construction at an exceptional value. Mel’s mission is based on hard work, ethical standards and quality homebuilding. Inside and out, top to bottom, and what you can and cannot see, Mel insists on unparallel excellence in every home he builds.    

Mel’s wife, Linda, joined the business in 2004. As a team, they work with each homeowner to ensure that the home meets the homeowner’s dreams. Mel graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in construction engineering, and he has more than 40 years of experience in construction.

This traditional, 5100-square foot European estate sits on a one-acre lot. Feel right at home as you enter through the double metal Elegante doors.   

The entry is stately yet welcoming with hardwood floors and arched doorways that lead to a magnificent formal living room. The living room is embraced with a 16-foot coiffure ceiling and European beams. The library, to the left, and formal dining, to the right, both have hardwood flooring and fireplaces. Wrought iron arched doors lead to butler’s pantry from the dining.

The sizable family room glows with warm colors as a stone fireplace comfortably rests in the center of the room. From here, the outdoor living area is easily accessible. 

The kitchen acts as an intricate part of the family room. It’s a delight working in a kitchen with stained cabinets, granite counters, pantry, stainless appliances, a vegetable sink and two islands. The hand-textured walls are finished off with a chocolate glaze while the flooring of patterned, laid stone brings this area a polished edge   

The master bedroom and bath are found on the first floor. Four bedrooms with two Jack and Jill baths are located upstairs. And don’t forget the basement which houses a state-of-the-art media system.
