Dan Day has owned and farmed this tract of land since 1946. Dan was born in Acuff, attended Texas Tech and has farmed and ranched all of his life. Dan served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Korean War, and he is currently active in the community and professional organizations. Dan serves on the South Plains Underground Water District Board of Directors and is a longtime Elder of the Brownfield Church of Christ.
James Pipkin is a graduate of Texas Tech with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He started his career as a teacher and a principal in the Lubbock Independent School District. James has been involved in real estate investments since graduating from college and has been actively involved in the grain milling and grain storage business. Active in civic and professional organizations, James has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Urban Renewal Board and the Board of the South Plains Food Bank. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Lubbock Apartment Association, the Lubbock Rotary Club and serves on the Developer’s Council of the West Texas Home Builders Association.
Dan and James are developing Day Estates as a fulfillment of their vision for this property. Located within the Lubbock city limits and the Frenship School District, Day Estates will eventually stretch from Frankford Avenue to Milwaukee Avenue. A portion of the proceeds from the development of this neighborhood is dedicated to the Children’s Home of Lubbock and the Portales Children’s Home.
